Synopsis - Journey to Jershon
Gabe Snow was a 30-something ex-convict who had every misfortune imaginable thrust upon him, until a mysterious woman named Anya appeared to him in a vision, pleading for help.
Now, running from the law, an innate feeling is all Gabe has to lead him to a magical conduit that will transport him trillions of light-years beyond the edge of our known universe to a world where science and magic coexist, and a dark sorcerer threatens a powerful nation that struggles against a cancerous corruption.
Gabe quickly finds himself unable to tell friend from foe as he journeys to rescue the mysterious Anya and stop a war from dividing the nation.

About the author
Born on October 31, 1981, at home in Hyde Park, Utah, Joel is one of ten children born to Jeffory and his then-wife, Kathy. His family is descended from Rebecca Nurse who was hung as a witch in Salem Massachusetts. His wife also has ties to the Salem witch trials, being a direct descendant of Cotton Mather, a prominent figure involved in the prosecution of the alleged witches.
Joel taught himself how to read, and then how to write when he was five years old, and was basically on his own after his twelfth birthday, following the death of his brother, and only friend, Joshua.
His education was limited to High School where his grades and his passion for writing suffered due to troubles at home, depression, significant learning disability, high functioning autism, and social isolation which developed into social anxiety. It wasn't until four years after high school that he met his wife at work while on break.
He currently lives in Utah with his wife and four kids.

Preface
I want to thank you; it means a lot to me that you would take the time to read this book. Before we begin, I want to assure you that any flaw in the story, characters, plot, formatting, etc. Is not due to intentionally lazy writing, while I can easily envision the various elements of the story, I have often had problems expressing myself, or putting some things into words, and even greater problems understanding a great many things.
Since I was young I had a passion for writing, but dealt with a variety of road blocks which included learning disabilities, and more recently PTSD, and people chose to pretend that these diagnosed issues didn’t exist. I don’t mean to use that as an excuse or to garner sympathy, as J.K. Rowling once said “Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.” I’m working at it, I’m doing my best, and I am not taking the easy answer.
This novel series serves the following: it helps me cope with my anxiety, depression and other issues that we may or may not get into at some point; it gives me a sense of control in my own life as this story is an extension of that life and I can shape the events, and ultimate outcome, many things the character went through I have personally experienced; finally, it lets me learn, to identify my weaknesses in the craft I am most excited about and correct them accordingly.
This story was partially inspired by my own life, but also there were some influences in my Christian faith and a dream I had many years ago, a dream where I was talking to a woman over the phone, a woman from an alternate reality, I don’t remember much beyond what we discussed, which were the various differences in our respective realities. That story was later developed into a poorly written, but promising concept for the book “Trial of the Dreamer”, from that I ventured into film and learned a great deal about story telling, and that only fanned the flames of my love for writing.
I cannot promise you that this is the next book that history will remember for generations to come, but I can promise that my love of writing fills the void my imagination could not fill, and as long as you enjoy what I was able to do right then I have succeeded in more than just coping with mental illness.
